One enters
the house through a massive arched door of exquisite timber into
a multi-story tile and brick courtyard filled to brimming with tropical
plants, trees, and colorful flowers indigenous to the area. An enclosed
garage with doorway access to the interior provides secure parking
for two vehicles. |
At the
base of an elegant curving stairway under a red-tiled and wood-beamed
roof one finds an open-air entertainment and leisure area with a
wet bar, sofas and chaise lounges facing the blue-tiled fresh-water
infinity pool. Next to the pool is a broad open terrace that seems
to reach out and embrace the sea. |

Casa Leo was designed
by one of Mexico's most talented architects, and its formal opening
was celebrated in December of 2003. The architecture combines the
timeless beauty of "Mexican traditional" with the permanence
and practicality of "American modern". Gently curving
illuminated staircases and walkways flow through Casa Leo. The clean,
open spaces and unique flowing style prompted one local artist to
describe Casa Leo as "Frank Lloyd Wright meets Mexico!"
|
Distributed among
five expansive levels covering over 6,600 square feet, Casa Leo
is a showcase of impeccable interior decor. Colors of comfort, colors
of joy, original textures, rich inviting fabrics, exquisite woods,
and numerous distinctive details from the finest folk art to Spanish
colonial armoires create an interior that is at once both beautiful
and extraordinarily comfortable. In addition, each area of the house
offers breathtaking views of Zihuatanejo Bay. |
|
Through the courtyard
and another arched doorway one finds an spacious and beautifully
appointed living room that opens onto a slat-roofed garden terrace
with brilliant panoramic views of Zihuatanejo's bay and beaches
as well as the alluring, seemingly infinite Pacific Ocean. Equipped
with comfortable seating and a dining set, this terrace is perfect
for informal dining or watching the often spectacular sunsets.
Adjacent to the living room is a roomy formal
dining room with built-in marble and teak sideboard and cupboards.
The dining table easily seats eight. Nearby is a well-appointed
powder room (one of Casa Leo's six private bathrooms) |
Next to the dining
room is a large, bright, fully equipped kitchen with marble countertops,
modern state-of-the-art appliances (including a microwave and a
dishwasher), and a convenient breakfast bar that opens directly
onto the dining room. The large pantry is equipped with a full-size
refrigerator with icemaker.
Because Casa Leo is set in lush, tropical surroundings,
various species of exotic plants, trees, and brilliant flowers as
well as multi-colored birds and butterflies abound. Within the house
guests will enjoy a spectacular botanical array of hibiscus, palms,
jasmine, cacti and oleander that color and perfume every level. |
|
The uppermost level
of Casa Leo houses the Master Bedroom Suite. It features a luxurious
private bath, generous wardrobe space, large dressing and sitting
areas, king-size bed, remote-controlled ceiling fan and air conditioner,
locking storage safe, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto
a private, slat-roofed garden terrace. The terrace is furnished
with chaise lounges and a Jacuzzi, and it offers magnificent panoramic
views of Zihuatanejo's bay and beaches. |
Overlooking the pool
from the second highest level are two large, comfortable guest suites
each with their own spacious, double-size baths. One suite has a
queen-size bed and the other has twin beds. Both have ample wardrobe
and dressing space, remote-controlled ceiling fans and air conditioners,
locking storage safes, and floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open
to access a shared garden terrace with chaise lounges for relaxing
and gazing at the mesmerizing view. |
|
|
And finally, closest
to the sea is a fourth guest suite at the lowest level of Casa Leo.
This roomy and private suite comes complete with a luxury bath,
queen-size bed, generous wardrobe space, dressing area, remote-controlled
ceiling fan and air conditioner, locking storage safe, and large
picture-windows that open to the fabulous panorama of Zihuatanejo
Bay. |
If hospitality is
measured by friendly attention to detail, then guests will most
assuredly find a generous serving of it at Casa Leo.
In this magical and ancient land of natural warmth
and wonders that make up Zihuatanejo, Mexico, peace and pleasure
patiently await. |
